Grumpy Post

Well, it's not been a good week.

I'm depressed about the election, but I know who is really control of our world, so I'm trying not to let it get me down too much.

This presidency is going to set the pro-life movement back by decades, I'm afraid, not to mention Mr. Obama's "spreading the wealth" plans. What are people thinking? I don't think people really tried to find out where this man came from, or understood where he wants to take our country. Or maybe we really do have a country full of slackers who want the government to take care us and don't want to assume responsibility for anything, including our unborn babies.

In addition to being upset about the election, the darn peripheral vertigo is back with a vengeance the past couple of days. I have appointments to see several specialists over the next month, and I'm praying they find a cause for it and can do something to stop it. This is no way to live. I feel like I've been on an amusement park ride that spins, and when I get off the whole world is tipsy. It was so bad yesterday I vomited. TMI. Sorry.

I had to cancel my lunch with a friend today, and Ron had to come home at lunch time to take Mom her pills for me, since I didn't feel safe to drive.

And I haven't seen Reece and Aubrey all week. :o(

Okay, enough with the whining. I'll stop now. :o) On the bright side, Ron went to the store for me last night to get soup and 7-up and came home with the beautiful roses in the picture. What a sweetie! And I've lost about 5 lbs. because I don't feel like eating. That's good, right?

I hope the doctors figure out what to do about your vertigo. That sounds terrible. And, no, losing weight due to not eating isn't good; losing weight due to a healthy diet and exercise is good. We'll pray for your health and for the wisdom and skill of your doctors.

Don't let the election get you down. I think Obama won because the people have a widespread belief that "something is wrong" and the nation has been going in the wrong direction. They voted for "change," and Obama appeared as the "low-hanging fruit" -- the most obvious and viable change they could see. It's unfortunate that the nation lacked the clarity of vision to see that Obama doesn't really represent change at all, but rather an acceleration of what is wrong (more abortion, more taxes, more government, etc).

Margaret Thatcher once characterized Western politics as being similar to a ratchet. When the left is in power, everything gets moved to the left. When the right gets power, that leftward movement slows (or stops, if you're lucky), but it doesn't reverse itself and make government smaller or less socialistic. I think that's our problem. For decades we've had the choice between running left or walking left. Nothing will change until we discard the ratchet in favor of a better tool: one that lets us move back to small govenment principles and respect for the Constitution and rights like life, liberty, and property -- in both word and deed. Unforuntately, our current insitutions (education, media, and political processes) present the status quo as the only real option: the ratchet is all that gets presented. That won't change unless the people force it to.

I think your "trust in God, not men" approach is good. Despite all the apparent obstacles, and despite all our flaws, if we strive to do God's will, and trust in Him, we're doing something right.

Love you,
Jason

Thanks, Sweetie. Your post made me feel better. Thank you for praying, and thank you for your thoughts about the election (although I had to laugh about Obama appearing as the "low-hanging fruit." Sorry, that just struck me funny, although I know you didn't mean it that way). :o)

I think if I didn't know that God is in control, I'd be in despair. I'm so glad that we can trust in Him.

I love you, too.
Mom

Oh my, sorry to hear that you're under the weather. Prayers that you will find out what is causing it all and get a handle on it. For your information, your blog entry comes in 19 on google search for "peripheral vertigo"!

aine, thank you for the prayers. Ha! That's funny that anything on my blog would come up on google. :o)

I'll keep you in my prayers.
My mum had this and had surgery to correct it (they cut some nerve near her ear?) . . . The risk was cutting something else and making her deaf or something, but that never happened. She's fine today. I pray they find what is wrong and are able to fix it for you.

God bless,
Sarah

Thank you for your prayers, Sarah. I hope they don't have to anything as drastic as surgery, but if that's what must be done to make this go away, I'll do it. I'm so glad your mum is doing well now.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well. I too suffered from vertigo in the past. Chiropractic helped me.
We are all saddened by the election. Jason hit it right on. The TRUTH will never change.
Blessings and peace.

Thank you, Linda. Hmm, I've never been to a chiropractor, but would be willing to try it if it would help. Yeah, I've got a pretty wise kid there. :o) (Jason is my oldest son, for those who don't know).
