It got cold and windy today, but our three children, their spouses and our seven grandchildren were here for the cookout and we had a great time. Dinner was yummy, and we all enjoyed being together.
The guys were outside most of the afternoon, even though it was cold. They brought the grill onto the patio under the deck and sat out there in spite of the cold, drinking beer and talking, talking, talking.
For dessert we had some yummy chocolate cupcakes that Kelly brought, and the fudge that Lyssa, Lily and I made last night. Oh, and root beer floats for those who wanted them.
The kids played and watched Up for the umpteenth time.
Kelly and Mike brought Darcy and Banzai, and the puppies were overjoyed to see their playmates. They left around sundown.
In the evening, the guys brought the chiminea onto the patio and sat around it smoking cigars and talking some more. I love hearing them laughing together. Cyrise and Lily joined them. They all came in smelling like wood smoke. :o)
It was such a lovely day. There is nothing like being with family, and we are richly blessed.
